2 years ago, my dad bought me a Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5305. It worked fine until it started to get really REALLY slow. I sent it back to Toshiba and they replaced the hard drive. After a few months of it working fine, it started to get slow again. One day I happen to be in a bad mood and hit it right next to the trackpad. Nothing seemed broken. The next time I turned it on though, it went to the Toshiba logo screen for a long time, then the little spinning ring at the bottom popped up. After that, the screen would go black and nothing would happen. I put in the corner and it collected dust for about a year. A few days ago, I decided I was going to fix it. I created a USB installer using Bootcamp on mac. (Keep in mind I didn't install the Apple support software, I just used it to move the files from the iso to the usb). I went into BIOS and booted it with the usb. This time, the windows 8 logo was displayed and the ring was spinning again for a while. After that, the screen just went black. I feel like I'm close to getting it fixed, but I don't know what to do.

Solution
Well, when you consider they are spinning at up to 7200 rpm and there's not much space between the platters and the read/write heads it's not surprising that they react to a blow from a hand!
Have a look to see how much the Recovery disks cost

You'll need your Serial Number

If the laptop was running when you hit it you probably destroyed the HDD. If it came with W8 pre-installed you'll have real difficulty in replacing it and re-installing W8 unless Toshiba supplied you with Recovery disks. As your laptop is now out of warranty it will be expensive to obtain the disks from Toshiba. There are no known legal downloads for OEM Win 8, plus your Product key, which is required for installation, is probably embedded in your BIOS...

I took out my Hard Drive and rooted around in the computer and nothing looks broken. But seeing as the HDD is right where I hit the computer, I probably damaged it internally.
