Why is skyrim fps so low? it stays around 30-40 fps in a village but in a clear field it stays at 60 because of v sync. When I had a gtx 480 skyrim would run way better.

CPU: AMD fx 6100
GPU: GTX 760

Skyrim is a VERY CPU bound game.

You can tell if you have a CPU bottleneck if your CPU in Task Manager is at a constant %99-%100 while your GPU is around say %50 or so while playing. Have to take Skyrim's Built in V-Sync into account though in this case

DO NOT turn off V-Sync in skyrim. Things become very bad with the games Physics Engine as well as quests becoming broken. Your best bet is to force triple buffering in your GPU Control panel for Skyrim to remove a bit of the input lag

Whats the version of your Video Driver out of curiosity?

Its because you CPU is bottlenecking your GPU. You could try overclocking it a little bit (depends on what motherboard you have)
Also I wouldnt recommend you having v-sync on because it can cause input-lag

Well I think it will still bottleneck maybe a little..
And also I would say that if you dont overclock it, its not gonna be "a lot" faster that your old!
