I have the hyper 212 evo cooler but I had a hard time installing it so I went with the fan that came with my cpu. Is the cpu fan the problem?

comes of great with soft paper towel (the stuff from the kitchen).

As long as those screws are in the correct slot position on the bracket, you should be able to align them with your fingers, make sure they're going into the mobo sockets nice and square, not cross threaded.

No force is necessary.

My experience with Intel stock coolers goes back to the days of the Netburst architecture with my Pentium D 945 and its stock cooler was really noisy when the CPU is under a heavy load. That was 8 years back but it seems like it is still the case with the stock coolers they ship with chips this days as well.
The CM Hyper 212 EVO is a much better cooler than the stock Intel cooler and can keep your CPU cooler under load while the fan is not even spinning at 100 % of its speed, so it is a waste of money not to use this instead of the Intel stock cooler. What kind of problem did you run into while installing the Hyper 212 EVO?

Not really; at least when you've heard custom watercooling. The pumps on all in ones are horrible and of the cheapest quality they can get away with; combine that with being fastened to the motherboard and thus passing on vibrations to the case, and even an H100i with Noctuas on it is going to end up being noisier/more annoying than a hyper 212 EVO, or better yet, a 140mm cooler.

I had a hard time aligning the x bracket screws with the holes.
I'm going to try to put the cooler on tomorrow.
How do I remove the thermal paste that is already on the cpu?

Take a micro fiber cleaning cloth or a coffee filter and use 91%+ alcohol to wipe and clean the surfaces completely, but be gentle!
