Do I only need a 550watt or should I get a 750watt PSU?

This is my PC I plan to build...

CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 54.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler

Motherboard: ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP ATX LGA1155 Motherboard

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Storage: Crucial M550 1TB 2.5" Solid State Disk

Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 280X 3GB Video Card

Case: Thermaltake Chaser A41 ATX Mid Tower Case

Power Supply: Thermaltake SMART 750W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

Optical Drive: HP 624192-B21

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)

So which power supply would be better, do I actually need a 750 or is it safer to go 550? Also is there anything else I should consider changing within my pc?

Thanks in advance.

By all means, stick with the 750w, especially with that video card. And you'll need a better brand than Thermaltake. A Corsair, Silverstone, XFX, or Rosewill are usually most recommended.

You are fine with a 550W. However that Thermaltake is not gonna cut it.
Get something better. XFX 550PRO is decent and cheap too.

750W is way overkill, Joseph, also Rosewill has a VERY bad history and the only range of affordable Rosewell I would trust is the Rosewill CAPSTONE.

What is your budget?
I would like to make some suggestions on your build that may help you a lot.
For example, faster RAM at same price. Corsair is overrated these days.
Smaller SSD. 1TB is pointless when you can get 120/250GB with an HDD
XFX graphics cards are not something I ever suggest and at the moment the Nvidia GTX770 is a better buy and performs the same.
You would also be better of with Z87 chipset motherboard and I5 CPU.
Alternatively your CPU cooler is not needed as you will not be OCing.

Australian prices are so odd...

Anyway.

Right so ill just suggest one thing to consider in your situation.
Get a 240GB M500 SSD instead.

The R9-280X is a high-powered video card. You will be safer with at least a 650w psu, especially since the price difference is not that large.
