My Windows 8.1 is using too much RAM

My quite new windows 8.1 PC is using a lot of RAM, when i only have Skype open it uses 1.6 GB out of 8 GB. Whenever i play games, the RAM runs out after 10-20 minutes and the game chrashes, if anyone knows how to fix this problem, please let me know!

type in regedit and look for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Nd and then change the start value to 4. Then restart your system

UPDATE: I found it and i changed it to 4, it's still using 1.3 GB of memory with only skype in use

try running the fixit tool, I noticed on windows 7 it used almost the same amount. must just be the program http://support.microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/
