Hey all, it's finally time to chuck away my good old GTX 570. It has served me well.

Copy pasting the template in the sticky. I would appreciate any feedback on choosing my new GPU.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: end of May / early June

BUDGET RANGE: Under $600 preferable

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming and graphics (Designing and Illustrations). I don't play much FPS but I do want to enjoy games like Assassins Creed 4, Tomb Raider (with TressFX), Witcher 2, Arkham City, Skyrim modded heavily, upcoming Shadow of Mordor, etc. on max.

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: Zotac GTX 570 Amped edition and Seasonic 850W PSU. I can still manage 1080p with 2x AA and other settings maxed in Assassins Creed 4 but frame rates drop below 30 sometimes.

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: Gigabyte Z77-M Pro mobo, Intel i5-3550, 8 GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1666Mhz

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: India

PARTS PREFERENCES: AMD or Nvidia. (more on that below)

OVERCLOCKING: Unlikely to overclock

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Single GPU only

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1080p, not likely to go higher till at least a year. Will upgrade to 1440p.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: First off, I don't have a lot of tech know-how so excuse the dumb questions.

- If I get an AMD card, will I miss out on Physx ? Is it that big of a deal? Alternatives?
- I like to max out whatever I play. I don't really go for max AA however. 2x or 4x at most is quite acceptable for me.
- If you have any comments on DX12 and Mantle, I would like to know those as well. I haven't factored Mantle in my decisions yet simply because I don't know much.
- I would prefer something that can handle max / very high settings at 1440p for the next 2 years perhaps. I was thinking of something like R9 290 (not the X) Tri-X from Sapphire due to the excellent cooling. I think that would serve me well for a few years, even on 1440p. Thoughts?

I think the gtx 780 is the best card for the money. the 290 is alright but the gtx 780 is better in my opinion. A lot of the AMD fan boys will tell you stuff like oh you know you can overclock the 290 to beat that but what they don't look at is things like a lot of manufactures make websites that benchmark do their benchmarks at stock speeds, so both cards have a lot of headroom to overclock. you can look at the results here http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-290X-vs-GeForce-GTX-780 I really think the 780 is a great card for the money. You get every last bit of your money out of it. In the benchmarks the titan, titan black,690, and the r9 290 and 290x are all on the top where everything else on a lot of the charts kind of drops off. But for your DX12 and mantle question. Mantle is kind of a lost cause some games have it but rumors are that AMD and their relation ships with the game developers just isn't happening as much as it should so it just hasn't been working like it should. But DX12 will be amazing. because it just won't be limited to the next gen cards it will be fully functional on even the 400 series card from nvidia. So if you have the money the 780 would be the clear choice
