i had a 2gb ram card in my pc and i inserted one more ram card of 2gb but still my pc shows 2(1.93)gb instead of 4 gb ram.

Check to see if you have the ram in installed in the right sockets. you go up to the next number that is shown on the board, not the next closest socket available. If you did that correctly check in the bios to make sure that bios says that you have 4 gigs of ram. Sometimes motherboards can require certain things in the bios to be enabled for the ram to work in dual channel

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/system_tools/misc_system_tools/memtest86plus_exe.cfm download this and install it to a blank usb drive. After that reboot your system and run memtest86 until the test finishes
