Hey guys I'm looking to build a nice work rig for my dad.

He has 5 chrome windows with ungodly amounts of tabs, and has

bridge/ photoshop/ acrobat
MS Word/
skype/
sublime text / evernote
10 external hard-drives on his
mid 2011 27" imac with an 3.1ghz i5, 16gb ram, and the radeon mobile card, also 2560x1440 dual monitors,

It is unbearably slow for him to load pages/ do whatever, and his RAM is full 24/7. He has a 100 down, 20 up connection, so its for sure not his internet.

I know that this would be a more than adequate rig for gaming, but I have discovered that chrome windows + dual 1440p is quite intensive.

I don't know a lot about where the resources bottleneck,

but for sure 16gigs wasnt enough ram for him, and the graphics card is probably too underpowered for dual 1440p and all of the tabs. I'm not sure about cpu.

Do you guys want to recommend me any areas that I can cut back? namely in the video card and the CPU department. He does some video editing sporadically, and he uses photoshop a ton.

His CPU is around 40% load with normal use.

I'm looking for a motherboard and also not quite sure how many watts of PSU to use. thanks for helping!

This build is great your dad will love it capable of gaming and browsing and video editing. an 8 core build will be the best for the money. a gtx 660 would struggle on a 1440p monitor totally weak.

Hey man, thanks for the help, but I prefer intel parts on principle. I want to use a haswell i7 with one of the 87 chips. I probably should've mentioned that.

hey my bad heres an i7. it is abit powerful than the 8350. therefore it is expensive
