I recently upgraded my graphics card from a HD6950 to the R9 290x and I feel like my computer has been running a bit slower. I think my CPU is bottlenecking my PC so I'm thinking of upgrading my CPU. What would be an good match for the R9 290x?

Side note: I'm currently using the Fatal1ty 990FX Professional as my motherboard.

Solution
FX-series would be the easiest. FX-6350 ($130 USD) gives you the same cores, but more L2/L3 cache & higher core speeds. FX-8320 gives less of a speed boost, but you still have more L2/L3 cache & you go up to 8 cores. Both of them have identical TDP (125W) to your Phenom chip, & on your board are supported from BIOS v. P1.70.

Alot of thanks to the both of you, I'll take your suggestion and go with either the FX-6350 or the FX-8320. Thanks again!
