For some reason I get only as high as 60fps on low settings? o_O

I've seen people running it on ultra with the 60-70 fps on the same set-up...yet for some reason mine goes down to 30-40 fps on ultra :S (64 man servers, but conquest large so no hotbox lag)

I'm running the 14.2 beta drivers for mantle if its relevant but mantle is not enabled in Bf3 yet sooo....
Also, my processor only runs at 3GHz if that's relevant but surely having eight cores would still stand me in good stead to run it well, right?

Any help would be appreciated!
Sam

I've had a look at the cpu support list for that motherboard:
http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=4305

The answer is yes- although note in that list that the board needs bios 'F3' to properly support the cpu. Depending on when that board was produced it may be on an older bios version when you get it- so you'd have to flash the bios. Ideally if you have an older cpu lying around (e.g. an old athalon II or phenom II) that is supported on all version you could boot the system up with that first (although you should get away with loading up with your 8320 on an older bios- it will probably just come up with 'cpu unrecognised' or something similar).

Well it depends on how well threaded the game is. I'm not sure about the Battlefield seriese however they may well only use 1 thread for the main game (so you're only using 1 core out of your total 8).

The 8320 is supposed to run at 3.5ghz base and turbo up faster than that when only 1 core is used- if its only running at 3ghz then it probably isn't hitting turbo either.

I came across a similar thing the other day where someone had a Phenom II 965 running at 2.2 ghz- turned out his motherboard didn't have capacity to power the cpu so it was under clocking it to bring power consumption down, this could be the same issue. It certianly sounds like its not running correctly.

If you could give details of the make and model of the motherboard, also the amount and speed or ram you've got and details of the PSU that would be very helpful.

Ah its okay, I found out why :D MY motherboard it fairly crappy for newer CPUs and only handles a 95w tdp where the processor I have is 125w tdp
But now I need a new micro ATX motherboard that will allow for 125w tdp :/ , any suggestions?

Something like this looks ok:

I personally like Asus boards (they're usually pretty robust). The main thing is to ensure that it fully support 125w cpus.

Hmmm, do you reckon I could go cheaper...like this:

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4305#ov

It says it has support for 125w processors ... but do we reckon it will fully support it? :S

Ah, so if I put in my crappy fx 4100 then I should be able to boot it...
Also, will I need a clean install of windows?, because installing windows is a pain :/

Thanks for you help by the way :)

Your welcome- yeah the FX 4100 is covered in bios F1 so that's ideal. Get it running then get the updated bios from Gigabyte and follow their instructions for flashing it.

As for reinstalling windows- as you'r going from one AM3 platform to another you'll probably get away with it, although it is preferable to do a fresh install. I guess you're best bet is to make a backup of anything important, change the motherboards over and try booting it up. I've done it in the past without problems. If the system wont play nicely you can also try loading windows up in safe mode (that should work fine), going into the Device Manager and removing any drivers that look motherboard related- then rebooting. If that doesn't get it going then yeah re-installing is probably you best bet.
