I am stuck between choosing and R9 280X and a GTX 770. I was originally sold on the GTX 770 but then I heard it did not have support for sony vegas which I will be using what should I do.What are the pros and cons of both cards and which makes more sense to buy.

If u cant compromise on sony vegas , then you have no option but the R9 280x.
You dont have many options , select one of it.

I can't say for absolutely certain, but off the top of my head Vegas supports GPU acceleration with both CUDA and OpenCU - In laymans terms it will work with either Radeon or Nvidia cards. Every card those companies have released in the past few years has those technologies built in. So don't worry too much about that.

A better way to make the decision is to basically look at whichever card will give you the most bang for your buck on the day that you get it. Both cards (again off the top of my head) have similar performance so I'd advise you to look at your retailer of choice and see which one will cost you the least and roll with that. The difference between them certainly won't be large enough to be obvious outside of benchmarks.
