Disconnect the 1TB HDD when you do your initial OS install ...

edit: Set your optical drive in the BIOS boot sequence first in line for OS installation -- after you have installed the OS reboot and set the SSD first in the boot sequence.

Shut down, attach the HDD and reboot.

Yeah, just unplug the SATA cable on your hard drive and install the OS, and then once you are done, and can see your desktop, SHUT DOWN the computer, and reboot. You will need to go into the BIOS and set the SSD as the primary boot device, and take out your Windows disk.

You'll prolly need to go to Start>Run>diskmgmt.msc>Enter and find your new 1 TB HDD and right click on it and assign a drive letter to it.

Once you enter Disk Management in Win7 you should automatically be promoted to "Initialize" the HDD --- you may then proceed to partisan, assign drive letter and quick format.

Suggestion: Create a small 8MB "Blind" partition (or 2) without assigned drive letters. You could even do a 30GB blind partition to clone a backup of your OS for 'emergencies'

The formatted capacity of a 1TB HDD is around 931GB.
