I am thinking of getting into PC gaming and looking for a decent starter PC. I would rather buy one rather than build one.
is this a decent PC?

The problem with the prebuilts you're going to find on Amazon is they use poor quality power supplies and motherboards. The CPU in there isn't good for gaming, and you'll see noticeable slow-down in multiplayer games, and CPU-intensive games. And keep in mind it doesn't come with Windows, which would be an additional 70 quid or so.

The 270x is a great card, and you'll get good performance out of it, I'm just wary of recommending that particular one.

i have a question, in about 2-3 years time when it is time to upgrade graphics card, would i also need to get a new motherboard and a PSU,and do you think in 3 years time graphic cards will not be using a PCI-E slot, therefor forcing me to get a new motherbaord?

If you were to upgrade your graphics card from the 270x, I would recommend a new CPU, motherboard and power supply. The 740 is already showing its weaknesses for gaming, so in 2-3 years, a new CPU would definitely be something to look into. Which would require a new motherboard, and you would definitely want a new power supply also.

I don't foresee graphics cards not being on PCIe lanes for a good time. NVIDIA did just announce a new type of port, but I don't see that happening for a good while.

If it's going to be a couple/3 years from now, I would definitely look at something else then. The way everything's going, I wouldn't want to recommend you look at buying 3+ year old parts lol

Also hopefully by that time AMD will have better single thread performance. So I can't really recommend what to do in 3 years other than get a good quality motherboard and power supply lol
