Hi!

I recently was given a Maximus V Extreme, it's far beyond what I actually need but because it was given to me I rather keep it than sell it on.

I've been looking at RAM for the board but my head is absolutely swimming with recommendations and reviews. I currently own the Corsair Vengenace 4Gb CML4GX3M1A11600C9 for my current board. I was thinking about getting 2 x 8Gb sticks of the same model but didn't know if it was 'good enough' for the board?

The other option was to get the G.Skill F3-1600C7D-16GTX, but then I didn't know if the modules were compatible with the board. I would assume they were.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I am thinking about purchasing the Noctua NH-D14, I would assume that the G Skill modules are too high and may impede on the Noctua?

Could any of you recommend some good modules for the board?

Many thanks.

i would pick G-Skill for the best performance-price ratio. Check out this one:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Memory: G.Skill Trident X 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($164.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $164.99
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Just remove the heat spreader from above and you will rock your board with these sticks. Yes, they are compatible with Noctua NH-D14 cpu cooler fan. For more info, go through the link:

Good luck :)

Just coming back to this.

The ram is unbelievably quick. Thank you for the recommendation guys. One thing I will say, it was really difficult to remove the screws on the heat sink. I actually worn the screws down trying to do it :(

It wasn't too bad though because I just moved the fans up on the Noctua, so I have the heatsinks still on the ram.

Thanks again guys!
