Hi all.

I just bought a GTX 780 today, got the drivers cd with it 320.1 drivers i think..yes.
This is what i did exactly.
1) I took out my GTX 295 infront of the buyer proving it works well( just sold the gtx 295 as well...same day i bought a GTX 780..wow coincidence..due time for upgrade)
2)Inserted the GTX 780.
3)Switched on PC and booted into windows successfully
4)When trying to install the drivers i just cannot with supplied cd
5)When trying to uninstall the drivers error pops up in green "Nvidia Uninstaller failed"

What to do what to do.
I think i should have uninstalled first while having the GTX 295 in.
Any great ideas gurus.
Thanx

Solution
The drivers for the 780 and 295 come in the same install, so if your drivers are up to date it should just work. BUT, not uninstalling is a problem (which could be an indicator of other problems). Try downloading the latest drivers from nvidia (335) and installing over top (I rarely use driver discs anymore). Then I would uninstall and do a clean install.

When installing new hardware, best practice is to download the latest drivers from manufacturers website.

Here are the latest drivers for 64 BIT: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/73780/en-us

If you for some reason have a 32bit system, then download the appropriate driver.

If this installer doesn't work for you, try using Driver Sweeper in safe mode to remove the previous nvidia drivers and try again.

All good answers guys! I agree with all of you truly i do. So i downloaded the driver 335.. Everytime when i extract it says 7 ZIP data error. let me uninstall 7 zip if i have it on my system.
Nothing like 7 Zip program on.
UPDATE
So i restarted and windows actually informed me that they picked up i inserted a new gpu and will set settings to default.
I got to install the drivers now..320 that is.
Microsoft .Net Framework 4 Failed
Geforce Experience Not installed
Physics Not installed

I will keep you guys updated thanx for all the info

You need to download the latest drivers from Nvidia.com.
Then during install choose clean install. If that dosen't work you could try this Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 12.6.2.
its at guru3d.com.

Good Luck

Guys im still struggling.
Now i think i mught have a solution.
My question is WILL THE GTX 280 WORK ON WINDOWS 7 PLAIN, not HAVING INSTALLED SERVICE PACK 1. I go to settings and see in windows edition there is no service pack installed.

Uh.. aren't driver sweeper and display driver uninstaller the same thing?

ddu is specifically meant for display drivers only, not for random app drivers. nvidia is easier but for amd, driver sweeper has the potential to destroy chipset drivers because they are linked. i used to do manual only but since i researched ddu i just run it now. i wouldn't run it on the upload date and the forums will show problems if there is an issue and then it gets updated immediately. use CCC for random driver sweeping, its by far the most reliable besides manual.
