Upgrade PC Help

Hi guys, I'm new here and to pc gaming and hoping to get some advice sorry to sound like a total noob.

At the min my setup is

Motherboard ASUS M5 A99X EVO R2.0
CPU AMD FX4300 3.8ghz black edition
GPU powercolor radeon hd 7770 ghz edition 1gb gddr5
Ram 8gb

What be the first logical choice of upgrade out of the cpu or gpu as my mother board is only 1 week old.

id stick with upgrading the gpu. how much is your budget?

is this for gaming? if so, i would get the 6300 or higher, but only piledriver. and for the gpu, go for an r9 280 or higher

or gtx 760.

Play a game, see which part is not used at 100% and upgrade the other(between cpu and gpu)
Your cpu should not bottleneck a gtx 760 for example, though i'm not overly familliar with its performance, so i'd wait to hear from someone else too.

yeah, it depends on how well a game can utilize extra cores. i agree, play a game and see what is holding you back.

Thanks to all for your help on this matter, so it sounds like its a gpu upgrade for now.

now to figure out if it is the gpu bottlenecking my framerate

great deal. thats great they will all perform the same. this one is factory clocked by manufacturer and also overclock more if you want.

it will not bottleneck much. you would get a decent 60+fps on games like bf4.

at the min im trying black ops 2 zombies and when i go to areas with fire or alot of zombie killing my frame rate drops from 60 to 25-30 and looks terrible lol

yeah, you need a good psu for such a powerful card.

well, you can have multiple 12v rails and the amps on them stack, but dont quite scale 100%.
