I just completed my first build with the parts listed below, and I'm disappointed with the boot speed. I haven't taken a stop watch to it, but my "old" Gateway (i-5 3330, 8GB RAM, 1TB Seagate HDD, Windows 8) is amazingly fast to me. After maybe 15-20 seconds tops the monitor would turn on and it was already at the log in screen.
On my new build, I've played with the BIOS and stopped all programs from loading on boot, and the best I can manage is 35-40 seconds. Fast boot is enabled in Windows. I have not yet flashed the BIOS with the latest version, but I don't think this is the problem. The system gets handed over to Windows very quickly, and the black screen with the Windows logo also goes by quick. The hold up is when I get to the "welcome screen"; it sets there for a good 30 seconds.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm very green to all of this, and learning as I go.
