Not like my day could get any worse... On task manager and DXDiag it shows up as 8 GB when it's supposed to show up as 16GB. Very disappointed as I've been waiting for 2 weeks for my RAM to come back and this happens. I reinserted the ram into the memory slot twice, and it still says 8GB.

2 8GB sticks. Mobo is ASRock Z77 Extreme4

is it 2 sticks of 8gb? and do you have any other ram in there? make sure they are both seated proberly, and use a program to show which slots are full/empty so you know if you have a bad slot. try speccy, it tells you all the info you need to know about your pc.

I would suggest testing the RAM sticks individually if you haven't done that yet. Aside from the possibility of faulty RAM, it could easily be a compatibility issue (or defect) with your motherboard. Its a good idea to test as much as possible and isolate the problem before going back to the manufacturer. Let us know what you come up with.

It doesn't even say the slot is being used.

Does your motherboard has 4-DIMM slots? If your motherboard has 2-DIMM slots it's 100% faulty RAM slot!

When I opened the RAM package it was hot to the touch. Very likely it could have friend because this is the third time i've tried and it doesn't even register in any slot because i've tried it in 2 different slots. I waited 2 weeks and it doesn't even work. Bullshit.

I used speccy. Each time I tried to reinsert the RAM it still showed 8GB Ram. This is horrible.
