The machine was acting erratic, did a recovery, fixed for a couple of days, but then started to act up again, after the third try, I pulled the drive and re-formatted with my Mac ((fat Dos)). Re-installed, started the recovery, (factory settings) but, it still dies about 3-5 minutes into the recovery...either the laptop turns off or I get a white screen. (HD not flashing). I've gone thru all the options and each one crashes/freezes, what ever you want to call it. any ideas?

Possibly a faulty hard drive so test it with the drive maker's diagnostic software for DOS which loads from a bootable CD.
Download the CD image via links here: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287

If it's a WD drive the link is here: http://www.smartestcomputing.us.com/topic/63494-looking...

To create a CD from the Image file, use IMGBurn: http://www.filehippo.com/download_imgburn

When the CD is made, boot your PC from it.
