Hi I have a i5 3570K processor at the stock speed of 3.4 Ghz and I was using CPUID and Prime95 to test to see how hot it gets with the new cooler and at full load it is at 94 Degrees this seems very hot for a CPU and it was cooler with the stock cooler on i would like to know why it may be doing this. The CPU cooler is the CM TX3 EVO. please Help. i would like to overclock in the future i was thinking of taking this one back and getting the H80i.

if it was running colder on the stock cooler, i would assume the new cooler was installed incorrectly.

is the cooler making good contact?

did you use thermal paste? and did you properly clean the old paste off of the cpu before installing the new cooler?

I made sure to clean the cpu correctly i used some toilet paper and cotton buds with isopropyl alcohol and i installed the cooler making sure that i heard a click with each pin however i did orientate it vertically instead of horizontally because of my fan positioning. i did use thermal paste because it came with some.

how did you spread it?

i would clean off the paste and do it again. you can try to put a pea sized amount in the middle, and don't spread it, just place the cooler on top and it will spread with the pressure of the heatsink.

i use a non recommended method, so i wont recommend what i do, but i spread it around with a piece of plastic ( a credit card will do i suppose). all you need is a paper thin covering.

k so after a solid 15 mins of Prime95 the temps have lowered by quite a bit the idle is now 33 degrees and the max load is 61 degrees. I still think it could be lower and i would like to over clock as well while still keeping it cool do you think i should still get the h80i. also it is really load checking on my phone it is 61 decibels.

Don't spread the thermal paste, do a rice grain size in the middle and then just but the heatsink on top. Screw it by witching off to opposite sides to even out the paste as the heatsink becomes more intact (if you can understand what I mean)
