Hello

I just started making a computer.

Currently i got the following:

Intel Core i7 4770K @ 3.50GHz Haswell 22nm Technology

Corsair Vengeance 16,0GB Dual-Channel DDR3

ASUS Maximus VI Hero Motherboard

Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB ATA Device.

Now i need a graphic card and a power supply unit.

The graphic card i'm probably going to get
ASUS GeForce GTX 780 OC - 3GB GDDR5 - either that or a gtx 770.

Now my question is, do i need a 1000W psu or can a 850W handle it?

Corsair RM850 Gold - 850W PSU

or Corsair RM1000 Gold - 1000W PSU

Thanks in advance.

Solution
RM power supplies have cheap capacitors you only need 650 watts and that is plenty for your specs.

Power Supply: XFX XTR 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($109.99 @ Amazon)

With 54 amps on the 12v rail this is more than enough power for a 770or 780.

A 650watt unit is fine, as the system only draws about 575 watts (GPU consumption + 200watts for mobo, cpu, fans, etc * 15% headroom). If you want to SLI, the draw is 920watts, so I would get a 1,000 watt unit.

Instead of the Corsair RM units, get an XFX psu.

I can only buy what is available on this site : www.proshop.dk - will this be sufficient?

XFX ProSeries XXX Edition - 650W PSU 80 PLUS BRONZE ?

Are you saying that the corsair RM is bad?

Thank You for your answer :)

Yeah i've been wondering which to get for a while now... i just think that 780 is abit more future proof... thought it only has 3gb ram and the 770 i would have gotten has 4....

Thank You for your answer, good explanation also :)

why is xfx better than corsair?

The XFX ProSeries P1-650X-XXB9 uses higher quality Japanese electrolytic capacitors on the PSU's secondary whereas the Corsair RM650 uses cheaper Taiwanese & Chinese electrolytic capacitors on the PSU's secondary.

Also, the Corsair RM650 is missing the bridge for some of the +5V pins for the 24-pin ATX motherboard power connector.
