Increased wifi signal = faster internet?

Your 'internet' is only as fast as what you pay your ISP for.
WiFi only exists between your PC and your router.

For instance:
Between you and the router = 300Mbps
You pay your ISP for 10Mbps

Talking to a game server will only be 10Mbps

Asymmetric digital subscriber line
That is just the specific technology used. ADSL, cable, fiber....all different, but to the end user pretty much the same result. The router spits out an ethernet signal and/or a WiFi signal.

Again, whatever speed you pay your ISP for....that's it when talking to the outside world.
When connecting to other devices on your internal LAN, a 'faster' WiFi may help.
