i7 4770k or i5 4670k

I am upgrading from a i3 3220 and i am only using it for gaming i'm concerned because some of these triple A titles such as watch dogs and shadow of mordor recommended specs have ridiculous cpu requirements they both recommend i7 3770.

  1. If mainly for gaming the 4670k is the best choice.

This CPU with a good card will game very very well.

  2. are you keeping your motherboard? if so, a 4th gen chip wont directly replace a 3rd gen chip.

    whats your current motherboard?
  3. my motherboard is a msi b75ma-p45
  4. ok, a b75 wont overclock, so no need in getting a "K" chip.

a i5-3470 or 3570 would be a good bet. or if you live near a micro center, a xeon E3-1230V2 for $199, which is probably your best bet.
  5. I am just going to go with the 4670k thanks for the answers :)
  6. Glad to help thanks for posting.
  7. seems silly to upgrade your motherboard for no reason, but ok.
  8. i'm getting a new motherboard anyways better to do it now then in the future when i want to upgrade even higher or have more then one gpu and plus it doesn't go with the color scheme that i want lol. and thanks again for answering.

To be honest, it is a waste of money. Keep in mind, new board means new windows copy as well, most of the time. You should just go with a 1230 v2.
  10. sigh...... man i never though about that but i never heard of that cpu i have heard of the xeon series but never someone actually using it for gaming purposes.

The 1230v2 is nothing more than an i7 without IGP and added ECC ram support. They work with regular desktop motherboards and ram and perform the same as an i7.
  12. Alright thanks for telling me this i appreciate it will save me some money i also thought about the 3570k but i heard that you cant overclock it on my motherboard.
  13. Yea, with your board, you cannot overclock.
  14. Alright thanks for the replies.oh and your PC is a beast lol
  15. You got some nice parts
