My graphics card (MSI GeForce GTX 780 Twin Frozr) will connect to my friends hd monitor using a hdmi cable, but it won't connect to anything I have. I have an older monitor with a vga cable and I tried to use an dvi-d to vga adapter to connect them, but no luck. I then tried to connect it to my tv using an hdmi and it also says no signal. Any ideas what I should do?

So it works in your friend's monitor but not in yours or it doesn't work in neither?

Have you tried using vga in your friend's monitor instead of hdmi?

Unfortunately I didn't have the right cord at the time. Do you think that it could be my card's port?

Usually the card is quite hard to get a problem....and DVI-D CANNOT connect to a VGA port eventhough you have a DVI-D converter or whatsoever...I just newly bought a Sapphire Tri-X R9-290 OC version and i had try it before...It cant display anything and i was forced to use the fuzzy HDMI display...When you connect to your TV using HDMI do you try before to manually detect the plugin? If not why not give it a try :)

Erm well i cant tell for sure because each brand each model has a different system...perhaps you can read the manual for your monitor??? :)
