Well I just installed this motherboard GA-970A-DS3P
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DJ3DWN2/ref=oh_details_o00_s01_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also installed this memory ram
Dual channel corsair 8gb ddr3 vengeance
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345

So everytime I check the system info it says I got 8gb installed but only 4.9 GB is usable..
I tried resitting the ram to the another 2 slot and didnt worked..
I dont really know what to do guys.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

PD: I looked all over google and I only see when 3.9gb is detected and normally is because they dont have a x64 bit windows but I do.
I have windows 7 ultimate.

Thanks you for your time!

Well since you don't have an IGP and you do have Windows 7 Ultimate x64 something must be wrong with the ram OR some incompatibility with the ram and mobo. If anybody has some better ideas i can't wait to hear em

Yeah, that's what it probably is. To find out which one, download and run the program Speccy, and go to the RAM tab. If you have 4 sticks installed, Speccy will report 4. If you have 1 less stick being reported in speccy, that is the dead stick. RMA it. You may have to RMA the entire kit. Also, it it saying that there is 8gb installed, and 4.9gb usable, or that there is 4.9gb installed, and 4.9gb use usable?

Because the common probleM is that out of 8gbs only 3.98 or 3.99 gb is usable but when is 4.98 it like blew me off :S
but idk if it has something to do with the OS or is the ram itself.
I just dont want to change it and have the same problem again :S

And no I dont use ramdisk

well dude, I think ( Ive never seen it before, just makes sense to me) that inside the RAM stick, there might be a corrupted component, maybe the lauout is broken or something... I dont know... thats the first time I see something like that...

I was thinking on return it , but looks like they are fine
No error with mentest86

I guess that gotta be my last step , a full format and re install of windows 7 ultimate..
I just dont feel like erasing all my data :S

Well thats something I havent tried.
I've putting the mem stick with the color of the brackets.
Like grey to grey in my case.(I already tried the blac to black combination)
So ur suggesting that I connect one in black and one in grey?)
thanks btw

So I tried resseting the Cpu also checking that there wasnt any bend pins.
Tried installing the stock Heat sink..
I tried talking to a corsair representative this is what they said
"This seems like a limitation of your board or of the OS. The RAM is being detected however, like I said there is either a limitation on the board or through the OS."

I got a GA-970A-DS3P gigabyte
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DJ3DWN2/ref=oh_details_o00_s01_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And I also got Windows ultimate 7 x64
So basically I got nothing from that answer :S

PD: This is my memory btw

PD: And to be honest I fell my system a lil slower than when I had all that old components in it :s
