So, to keep a long story short i have completed my pc build but am having a hard drive issue. My issue seems to be that whenever i download to the drive or transfer a file to the drive, and even at random times the drive will just disappear. Whenever the drive disappears my computer will freeze for a minute and audio will be distorted. When the freeze ends i have a functional computer again just minus the programs on the drive and the drive itself.

P.S. The drive in question is a secondary drive. I have a 120gb ssd as a boot drive.

Solution
If you have video and transfer and data leaking problems, it could be the HDD or the RAM. Boot up the Parted Magic boot disk and check the HDD for the S.M.A.R.T status, and then go to F8 menu for Windows during boot up, and press tab and enter the memory test. If anything says bad, then report it on here and we'll figure the rest.

I am unsure how to access the SMART data or what the Parted majic boot disk is. I am sorta a noob. I tried reformatting the drive and im unsure if that worked or not. However, i seem to have a new problem. My startup time is almost 2 minutes to get into windows and my ssd is the drive that has windows on it and it isnt the drive in question. Also, my machine doesnt seem to power down correctly either now. It will either shut down after a minite or two, or it will not shut down and i have to use the power button to shut down the system. I am unsure what is happening and i just want my system to work as intended.
