My computer has become very slow the last few weeks doing just about anything games(fairly demanding ones) internet explorer, the typical stuff college kids would use a computer for im not some engineering major with some ridiculous software on it. Specs are as follows - Dell xps8300 intel i7 processor 3.4 ghz 8 gb of ram windows 7. I have feeling ive just failed to clean it which im going to do after this post, but I run a defrag monthly and have Kaspersky pure 2.0 any ideas what else I can do to fix it if cleaning doesn't work?

Solution
Update all of the drivers. Update the GPU's driver. Run MS update.
Do a disk cleanup. Check the hard drive.

This may help.

Make sure you do not have a virus. Use MS security Essentials. 100% free and works great.

If you have the money get an SSD. You may need to reinstall Windows.
