Hello everyone, quick question for the network gurus out there.

My current uverse setup is the following (as installed by the technician)
3801HGV Gateway to two wired TV receivers, one access point to two wireless TV receivers, and the internal WiFi for phones and two computers (using N150 WNA1100 USBs)

The problem is that the USB WiFi receivers are absolutely garbage. I was thinking of running two lines for the computers directly to the Gateway, but there is only one open connection. Can I move the two wired TV receivers to a switch to open up connections on the gateway?

Or should I just try a couple better PCI WiFi adapters for the computers to replace the USBs?

Thanks

Solution
I would connect everything possible with wires, then what cannot be connected with wires do wirelessly. Yes just hook a switch to one of the LAN ports on the router to give you more places to hook equipment up to.

Right...I've been reading that TV signals should be segregated from the PC's. Currently the 4 gateway ports are connected like so.

    ■ Port 1 - Wired ISB7500 DVR Receiver
    ■ Port 2 - Wired IPN330HD Receiver
    ■ Port 3 - VAP2500 WAP for Wireless Receivers
    ■ Port 4 - Empty

Would it be optimal to put the two computers on a switch on the empty port, or move all the receivers onto a switch and give the computers direct connections to the gateway?

It will not really matter much as the bottleneck is the internet line. You will not see much difference between plugging into a separate switch or directly into the router. I would probably just plug the PC's into the switch and be done with it.
