So in a recent post I stated how I got a new EVGA GTX 780, for a deal....but after installing it I came a cross a few problems, The first with the sound during games and the second is some whining noise coming from the graphics card while its under load.

Sound: So I have Logitech 5.1 surround sound hooked up to my onboard audio on my motherboard and I have an HDMI cable hooked up to my graphics card. I disabled the sound through my audio devices so only my 5.1 is the only audio device available. I tested 2 games and it turns out I can hear Sound FX and background noise CLEARLY but I don't hear any of the voice overs throughout the game just there lips moving and background noise....Anyone know a fix?

Whining Noise: Whatsup with this? Graphics are amazing but that noise is driving me INSANE....How do I fix it?

The Whining sound your hearing is most likely coil whine. A lot of EVGA 700 Series cards, especially the ACX coolers, seem to have this issue.

Nothing to worry about. It just can be bothersome at times. It drove me bonkers when I first used this card but Im used to it now.
Most noticeable on main menus when the card is rendering many hundreds of frames per second.

What game(s) are you having your other issue in?

I'm having trouble with AC: IV, south and now Crysis. I can hear the sound FX's. Like in AC IV I can hear the seagulls and water and even the grunting...BUT there are no voices...lol. On my brothers ASUS laptop it worked fine.

Just a tip for anyone who bought the ACX cooler even though I water blocked mine, There is a little circular plastic film on the top of each of the two fans. I recently noticed that when I went digging through my pile of heatsink stuff, I noticed a little edge of the plastic sticking up so I peeled it off.
Just letting people know

If you notice it happening around the 50% fan speed mark you can either have it never go past 49% or have it skip 50-55% and make it go up to like 60% at the temp. Like today I just bought a 780 for my lan gaming pc because I sold the 770 that was in it to a friend and I noticed the same thing. But tweaking the fan controller setup in the evga precision X making sure it never stayed at 50% at any time seemed to help it

So I fixed the sound. I went to control panel> sound device> advanced properties and check of stereo...I had 5.1 enabled makesno sense, but l hope it doesnt affect my sound quality.

Still working on the coil whine just downloaded the evga controller software. Ill do the 50% thing and see if that works.
