hi there my pc seems sluggish compared to all the others i read about boasting 60fps on max settings etc im just wondering is ive chose the right components or not my spec is, asus sabertooth x79 m/b, i73930k cpu, 16gb corsair dominator 1333, inno3d gtx 780 ultra dhs and a 500gb sata3 hdd. any help would or advise would be welcomed

What seems sluggish about it? overall perfomance? Just in games? Do you have specifics

just games performance really, for example tomb raider 2013 im maxing about 45fps on ultra, bioshock infinite seems choppy and sometimes sticky during gameplay one again on ultra and im only 1920x1080. maybe a fresh install and back to windows 7 is in order

Have you got the Nvidia geforce experience software installed?

For games like bioshock and Tomb Raider it provides optimum settings and will also ensure you're drivers are bang up to date. I'd double check you're graphics drivers and settings before reinstalling windows.

yes to both im just wondering if it has somthing to do with nvidias force pcie3.0 on sandybridge cpus since its nativie pcie controller is 2.0 and maybe i should have reinstalled when i upgraded my gpu

Hmm, might be worth looking up some benchmarks of the i73930K + gtx 780 for comparison (often they will include software settings). Running a GTX 780 at PCIE 2 x 16 isn't much different to running it at PCIE 3 x 16 though to be honest (Toms did a comparison a while back and the difference was 1fps if anything from what I remember).

when i benched it with 3d mark i got blinding scores but ill have a good look this evening and post my 3dmark scores. thanks for your advice mate
