wifi constantly disconnects in windows 8.1

My wifi adapter randomly disconnects and usually right after that my keyboard does as well. The only way to get my connection back besides restarting is to stick it into another usb port but then I'm left constantly switching port to port until I run out. I have already tried disabling the power saving mode in the usb root hubs and I've also tried changing the power saving option in control panel. Some one please help me this issue has be plaguing me since I upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8,and onward to 8.1

When it disconnects go into device manager. Are there any yellow question marks (unidentified devices)?

That tells me that this is a Windows problem as opposed to a faulty motherboard. When this happens, right click on it and go to Device Status. What error code # are you getting?

Hi I'm sorry for the late reply I've been waiting for it to happen again and it has quite a bit now only now the device manager isn't reading the disconnects as an error now, it thinks the wifi receiver is working properly

If you have a spare adapter try using it and seeing if the problem still exists.

I need the error code when it happens. My guess is a driver issue. Does it disconnect on other computers using the same usb?

I got a new usb adapter it seemed to work fine in fact my connection never drops but now I can no longer play games online, please help me!

Can you be more specific? Do you not connect to games at all or is your ping high?

no I just can't host games, for example gmod. With my old wifi adapter this wasn't an issue you I cold host games all the time because I opened the ports for it. do you think they have to be opened again?

To be honest this is going into a place where I don't have much knowledge, I just understand drivers and components. It's worth a shot to open your ports if for some reason they got reset with the new adapter.
