I want to build my own computer but I am very new to this as this would be my first computer. I want a good gaming computer on which I could play the newest games on medium to high settings in a year or so. This is what I got so far:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K
http://www.intel.co.uk/content/www/uk/en/buy/intelproducts/boxedprocessordetails.html?product_id=296371&originating_from=boxed_processors&

GPU: NVidia GeForce GTX 770
http://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-770/specifications

Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI HERO
http://www.ebuyer.com/517542-asus-maximus-vi-hero-z87-socket-1150-hdmi-atx-motherboard-maximus-vi-hero

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB
http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/vengeance-8gb-ddr3-memory-kit-cmz8gx3m1a1600c9

Hard Drive: WD 1TB 3.5 inch Internal
http://www.amazon.co.uk/1TB-inch-Internal-Hard-Drive/dp/B0088PUEPK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397211289&sr=8-1&keywords=1tb+hard+drive#productDetails

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-120GB-Basic-Solid-State/dp/B00E391KA8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1397212399&sr=8-3&keywords=ssd

Optical Drive: Liteon
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Liteon-IHOS104-37-Internal-Blu-ray-Software/dp/B002BAT1GQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1397212985&sr=8-3&keywords=internal+blu+ray+and+dvd%2Fcd

Case: Either: http://www.xcase.co.uk/pc-cases/gaming-cases/sharkoon-vs3-v-red-midi-tower-atx-case-23-75-sharkoon.html
OR:http://www.xcase.co.uk/pc-cases/gaming-cases/x-case-eagle-ii-gaming-chassis-ssd-usb-3-window-37-50-x-case.html

Power Supply: Corsair
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CP-9020077-UK-Builder-Series-Semi-Modular/dp/B00GN8VZ7U/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1397214516&sr=1-3&keywords=modular+power+supply+600W

This would cost me about 950 Pounds. I want to stick around the 1000 Pounds mark, so nothing more expensive (100 above is ok but nothing more). I want to give it all a black-red or black-blue look and was hoping for you guys to give me some feedback on this build. Are these components all compatible with each other? Will everything fit? Do I need anything else? (I got a mouse and I will take care of a keyboard and monitor myself) Am I missing cables, do I need more fans for cooling and I have heard something about Thermal Pastes (Do I need this)? I will get Internet connection with a cable. I am open for recommendations. Please note that this will be a computer almost only for gaming. Also if you know any websites where I can get these components cheap(er) please share them with me. Thanks in advance

Looks like a solid build, I'd personally put a slightly larger SSD in (is ideally that's where you want to install your games for reduce load times).

A good offer at the moment: http://www.ebuyer.com/497430-crucial-240gb-m500-ssd-ct240m500ssd1
(its not quite as fast as the EVO but I doubt you'd notice a difference).

Motherboard, PSU, Processor and GFX are all good and well balanced imo- nice job :)

Things you might considder- dropping the processor to a core i5- and upping the graphics card to a GTX 780 or R9 290 (as a core i5 is ample for gaming whereas more GPU horse power usually helps most, although it depends on what resolution you're going to be gaming at).

As high as possible ;) Ultra is preferred of course but if my budget does not allow that then high would be the best

Great choices here, this build is very similar to mine in fact. The GTX 770 is a great card and will keep you ready to play for the next few years at the least.
You won't need Thermal Paste because it comes pre applied to the CPU Cooler that come with the i7 4770k. However, if you plan to overclock or play a large amount of games I would suggest buying a proper CPU Cooler to extend the life of your CPU.

If I were you, I would try to get the 4gb version of the GTX 770, and up the memory to 16 gb, then after that, try to get it so that the ssd drive is at least 256 GB. You pull that off, and you will be hard pressed to find a game that won't run in maximum settings. I didn't see what OS you want on it, make sure it is a 64 bit version that supports all that ram. Windows 8.1 professional works well with mine! If you plan on using your old OS, make sure it is a 64 bit OS.

CPU - The i7 doesn't offer a significant advantage over the i5 for gaming. Nothing wrong with the i7 if you want to keep it in the budget though..
MB - The HERO is very nice, but overkill. Consider the Z87-A or Z87-Plus as good alternatives.
MEM - Vengeance modules are fine, but have "run of the mill" specs. There are better options with lower latency at that price.

The build below is with an i5, water cooling and has a PSU that will allow you to add a second GPU down the road if needed.

Thanks I`ll try and do that. Yes. I forgot to mention what OS I wan to use. I was going for the Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit because I have been using it all my life and never had Windows 8. Would Windows 8 be better to use in my case?

Thanks, I would have to watch a few videos first if I want to use water cooling (is it hard to install?) but thanks again for the professional replie, I will most liekly choose an i5 processor now as I had multiple answers telling me to do that and I will take a look at your build later as I have to leave in a few minutes

As Sadams04 said the I5 4670K is ideal as its overclockable and cheaper than the i7 with very little difference in games performance (and you can always up it an an i7 later if needed).

With regards to OS choice- DX11 is going to be the main version for another few years so Windows 7 will be supported at least until the release of DX12 in 2016. At that point you could always upgrade to Windows 8.X or possibly even switch to the free Steam OS (which may or may not have taken off by then- however if anyone can make a successful new platform I'd say its Valve).

An i5 4670k will be best for a single GPU config and is a good match for the 770.

I would only get the i7 4770k is you plan to add a 2nd 770 in SLI in the future. The i7 scales a bit better in SLI/crossfire when compared to the i5.

And for SSD, a little larger would be good for performance. The Samsung 840 EVO and Crucial M500 are 2 very good picks right now. Look at a 250GB size range.

The Maximus VI Hero motherboard is a good high end board for overclocking. You'll want a good aftermarket cooler if you plan to OC.

I would skip the i7 for i5 4670k so that to buy either a 250GB EVO SSD and a PSU of TX,RM,M12II or ZT series for overclocking the cpu to get the max out of it.
Obviously a decent cooler like 212evo would suffice.

Also 1080p is sufficient for gaming for a rig like that, you will need better gpu to play on ultra.

Thank you very much, I will take the i5 4670K now as pretty much everyone has told me that that would be a good idea. I think I will also stick with Windows 7 for now and upgrade in a few years.

As you recommended I`ll grab myself the SSD with 250GB as I saved a bit of money on the processor (I´ll get the i5-4670K now). Does the processor come with a cpu cooler or do I need to get that myself and also I guess I will need a few more fans. Any recommendations for those? (If they are quiet that would be perfect)

It comes with the stock cooler which can't hold up the cpu temps down when overclocked, so the hyper 212evo is the best bang for a buck cooler to get.
As far as the case fan goes, exhaust fan is mandatory to get.
I would get the Corsair/Noctua for case fans, they are quietest and gives best performance.

Ok, Thanks again to everyone for giving me such positive feedback and all the awesome recommendations. I followed your advice and changed the processor to an i5. However because of the fact that I had to get a CPU cooler and forgot to take the OS into account I`m ruffly at about 1020 Pounds. That is ok, as its my birthday soon and I got catholic confirmation (hoping to get some money to finance this computer) :) This is my new build:

Again I am open for all sorts of feedback and recommendations. Thank you very much again for all the support you guys gave me on my first post. I only have one question: Do I need to buy any extra cables or are all the cables I need included in the particular packages?

And also I forgot to ask: Are the 650W from the Power Supply too much or too low or even just fine. I know a lot of people told me the Asus HERO motherboard is overkill but I really like the black/red design as it fits to my build and case. If you know any other motherboard with such a design that is compatible with my build please feel free to tell me

Not really; it may be a bit cheaper though.

I would take the 750w 80+ bronze psu, so that you will not need to upgrade it while SLI'ing.
And if 4gb version of 770 is not needed if you are at 1080p.

Ok, I`ll do that. Can I use 2 monitors with this build or is that for some reason not possible and also are all the components compatible with each other just to make sure?

All parts are compatible, once you will get the 2nd GTX770, make a setup of 3 monitors which is best, 2 monitors will not give you a pleasure of 1 bigger size i.e. 27", but 1080p looks best on 24".
