network xp and win7

I have followed the guide on http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/37753-63-windows-tips#9705287 but although I can see the drives on the win7 machine from the xp machine, I cant access them. It says I don't have permission.
When on the win7 machine, I can access everything on the xp machine.
Can you explain why I cant access drives on the win7 machine.

Is the network on the Win7 machine set as public?

Did you setup a login with permissions to see those drives on Windows 7? Do you have the "Guest" account turned on in Windows 7?

No it isn't.
I have tried it as Home, Work and Public but it made no difference. It is now on home again.

Guest user was off, so I turned it on but made no difference.
All the users have been setup to read and write for permissions.
