My current system setup is:
Asus P9X79 LE
I7 3820 3.6GHz
Asetek 550LC Liquid Cooling (120mm Fan)
16Gb Kingston HyperX Beast 2400
850W AZZA Dynamo
AMD HD 7970
ASUS VG248QE Monitor

I am looking to replace my AMD HD 7970 with a GTX 780TI Dual Classified. I am still new to building computers, and i want to make sure I will not have any issues/bottlenecks when upgrading to the GTX 780TI. Any help would be appreciated.

You won't ever go back to a 60hz monitor, it's awesome. Even moving the mouse cursor around there is a very noticeable difference.

I think the 780 ti is the best option because it's the most powerful single GPU card. I was...

Right now I am only using one 1080p monitor. Sometime in the near future I would like to step up to a higher resolution though, the wife just won’t let me upgrade everything at once. =(

It will work great, just be sure to get remove the AMD drivers properly before switching do Nvidia.

I suggest you to buy r9 290x tri-x from sapphire. I'm a NVIDIA fanboy, but for multi-monitor setup AMD is superior to NVIDIA. Though gtx 780ti is fine but on multi-monitor AMD performs better.OR, you can stick with the 7970 which is a very powerful card and save the money for upcoming gtx 800 or r9 300 series. If i were you i will do this. By, doing this you will have more powerful and futureproof system :) :).... OH... not to mention, that upcomong 800 and r9 300 series will gonna support directx 12 fully unlike 780ti or 290x, which will gonna support few features of dx12.....

Hope I helped

Thank you I wouldn’t have thought about that. I will be sure to do that prior to installing the new card.

Yeah I have been tossing around the idea for a few weeks now about what card to get. I was leaning towards the 290X but the more I looked into it and read different reviews the 780ti sounded like a safer choice (I could be wrong). I cannot find any solid information on the release of the new cards though. I wonder what the price tag on the new gen cards will be, I am also worried that the first gen cards will have bugs/problems, though that is not a big deal most of the time, as I said before I am still new to building computers. so I figured it would be safer to stick with an older/proven series card. I am open for anything at this point though.

Well, if it was me I'd lean towards the GTX 780 Ti, too. I don't really like how the 290X's performance fluctuates with thermal solution. Nvidia has its boost clock too, but it is much less decisive to its performance.

Another thing to consider is price, though. At similar pricing I'd get the 780 Ti, although I don't see enough of an advantage to justify a big price difference.

I'm same as you mate :). The pc i'm using is my first build by me. Previously i had phenom 955+ 8gb+hd 5750. later i bought a hd 7870. But 3 months ago my pc completely stopped working. So i bought i3-4130 and Asrock z87 fatality killer mobo cause i didn't had enough money to buy i5-4670k/ i7-4770k. I will later upgrade to i7 and gtx 800 series gpu when they will release. So, i'm currently saving money :D :D...

I haven’t even used the VG248QE yet... =( I am currently deployed and I just ordered it, so its sitting on my desk waiting for me to get home. I can't wait to see the difference between a cheap 60hz monitor and a good 144hz! I have also been having problems with my HD 7970 getting bad spikes and causing shuttering on BF4, that is another reason I am leaning towards the GTX 780ti.

If you're having problems then definitely go with gtx 780ti. Be sure to uninstall your previous driver by installing driver uninstaller from AMD website :) :)

I think the 780 ti is the best option because it's the most powerful single GPU card. I was considering SLI of weaker GTX, or even crossfiring my old 7970, but running 2 GPU's just runs into more problems than a single card and I wanted to avoid that.

The 780ti classified is an awesome card! Nvidia is actually better at higher resolutions than amd's 290x. Tech of tomorrow did a test at 4k resolutions between the 290x and 780ti and in crysis 3, bf4, bioshock inf. And a few other games the 780ti pulled ahead by 3-8 fps in every single test. The 780ti is the better card tho more expensive.
