Will the 800 series most likely come out in 2015? Personally, I hope so. I am gonna finish my build this month and it will have a 770 in it but all this 880 speculation has got me stuck on what to do. Wait for Maxwell or get what i need now. I have been waiting to get a pc for over a year now

I agree...just not on the bleeding edge for longer than 2 years. Honestly OP...you could spend $350 on a good 770, or $700 on a 780ti...both will be outdated in a couple of years. it's always better to spread the money out and upgrade every couple of years. So get the 770, then in a year sell it on ebay for $200 and get the 870...then you'll always be current. the higher priced cards are more expensive to maintain that edge.

what games are you looking to play and at what resolution? a 770 will handle 1080p very well for the next 1-2 years. maybe your best bet is to get the 770 now and save the money for a 800 or 900 series card in a year or two.

Thank you everyone for your answers and I really appreciate the help this is my first build ever and I am very just confused on upgrading. Since maxwell wont be out for another 6+ months ill have more than enough time to get some upgrade money. That pc money trap just keeps grabbing me. Gonna order myself a Gigabyte Gtx 770 (Maybe Evga) next week.
