Is RAID worth it?

I have a pretty beefy setup and am trying to figure out if I should change it. I like to game a lot, but do a small amount of photo editing as well as video decoding. I should emphasize small, because primarily my computer gets used for gaming and day-to-day activities like email.

I have a total of 6 hard drives in my computer:
2x Kingston Hyper SSDs
2x WD Black HDDs
2x WD Green HDDs

I've alway shad my SSDs setup for RAID 0 as boot drives and program files drives, the WD Black drives setup in RAID 0 for other general use, and the remaining WD green drives for media/backup. I recently had a crash that caused me to lose data, and am wondering if I should change my RAID configuration.

I've heard mixed reviews about Win7 and RAID--some say it doesn't do much for an OS while others say it does. I've been contemplating using one SSD for my OS, and another for games/applications--no RAID setup. Will I see a noticeable loss in speed for startup, daily usage, and gaming?

I'm "glad" to see that's the case. I've been having trouble getting my rig to maintain RAID 0 properly and felt defeated. Knowing now that it may not be worth the trouble makes me feel a bit better. Thanks!
