Just bought AMD 8350

I just purchased the 8350. I did have the phenom ii x4 965 BE. I wanted to upgrade. I'm using the asrock 990fx extreme 3.

I installed it perfectly. It just boots up and i can hear the cpu fan but nothing shows.

what am i doing wrong? thanks.

You can try updating the bios,
but asrock website didn't list it as one of the cpu supported

I googled it to make sure if the extreme 3 and 8350 were compatible and i've seen threads of people saying yes. Plus on the website it says "Digi Power, Supports AM3+ Processor, 8-Core CPU" How many 8core cpus does AMD have? not many.

To update bios do i have to put my old cpu back in?

unless there is more then one 990fx extreme3, no fx8350

the 8350 is newer gen then the rest.
did you update to the latest bios?

I don't see it in there.

I did google asrock 990fx extreme 3 with amd 8350 and seen threads with people running that combo.

EDIT: Do i have to put my old cpu back in to update or just boot off a thumbdrive?

put in the old cpu to update the bios

it seem like they did said it supported for a while but people had problem with it and they pull it from the supported list.
