Hi,
I am currently playing bf4 with my laptop and running basically everything on low settings.
turned on the fpsoverlay in game and got an average of 50-70fps with a constant drop to 20fps in 1024x768 res (made both of my bf4 and my desktop res to 1024).

Im using ASUS N46V with the specs:
Intelcore i5-3210M 2.50GHz
Nvidia Geforce GT 630M 2GB
4GB RAM

I was thinking of either upgrading my ram into 8GB or building my own gaming rig with a relatively low budget (bf4 is the only game I played and interested in)
will upgrading my ram into 8GB will remove the fps drops i currently experiencing?
any recommendations of a gaming rig which can play bf on high settings (without fps drops)?
I actually don't need such ultra settings, high will be enough for me since my budget wasn't that much.

any help and suggestions will be appreciated,

thank you guys!

The RAM upgrade is very doubtful to help. Check your RAM usage while playing and see if you are using most of your RAM. I'd be willing to bet the problem is the 630M though, since it's not really much of a gaming card.

A desktop i3 or i5 with a half decent video card would give you far more performance than the laptop ever will no matter what you do to the laptop.

Try this first to see if it helps. That way you can take some time to evaluate what you really want.

My son has a i7/650m laptop w/6gb ram and plays BF4 very smoothly. His biggest enemy is heat, and that could be part of your problem too. Try using a small house fan blowing toward the 'hot spot'. Either that or get a good laptop cooler.

Does your laptop have the performance boost option for the cpu? My son's does, and not using it the game runs very poorly. The laptop must be running on external power.
