Question about my pc graphic card upgrade?

Hello,

first of all I am a console gamer and I've never played games on computers, so thats the reason why I lack of info when it comes to pc parts and specs.

My pc specs are the following:

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3350P CPU @ 3.10GHz
Manufacturer Intel
Speed 3.1 GHz
Number of Cores 4

Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GT 620
Manufacturer NVIDIA
Chipset GeForce GT 620
Dedicated Memory 1.0 GB
Total Memory 3.9 GB

Memory 8.2 GB

Operating System Microsoft Windows 8 (build 9200), 64-bit
Size 64 Bit
Edition Basic

Display Maximum Resolution 1920 x 1080

And my question is that if I upgrade the graphic card, will I be able to run games like battlefield 4 and dayZ on high/ultra high settings?

IF YES, can you suggest a graphic card to play games on high/ultra high settings.
IF NOT, can you suggest a full gaming pc parts around 800-900$

Thanks...

  1. Yes, that i5 is a very capable CPU. The 620 is holding you back. Post a budget and i'll post the best card within that budget. Your PSU might also need an upgrade.
  2. Before suggesting a GPU upgrade, as it seems like this is a prebuilt computer, I would like to know what kind of power supply you have. I would suggest a new power supply as well regardless, though lol Your CPU is more than capable of running those games, so you don't need to upgrade your whole system. Here's something to consider:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card ($319.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($39.99 @ Newegg)
    Total: $359.98
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

This will get you maxed out in both BF4 and DayZ (and will look infinitely better than consoles :) ) lol

  5. Yeah, definitely need a power supply upgrade lol I would measure the room you have for the graphics card. Like I said before, the new power supply and GPU upgrade will be plenty enough to get you what you're looking for :)
