Over heating CPU..

So I recently purchased this system:

Windows 8 build 9200 (64-bit),
1 x Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz,
MSI P67A-GD80 (B3),
16.0GB RAM,
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680,
256GB SSD
CM Storm Scout Chassis

So today I decided I felt like a session of WoT. Half way into the first battle and the system reboots :fou: I head into the BIOS and notice the CPU temp is at 72 Celsius... bit worrying but weird.

Boot into Windows and start up BurnInTest, run the CPU temp test and the results were nothing short of horrible, 95 Celsius or the 2nd pass.... power down, remove heat sink (stock sink btw :vomi: ) and notice I nice fat layer of thermal paste... do a clean up and reapply a fresh layer, seat the sink again and boot up. BIOS shows 72 Celsius again.. get into Windows again and start up BurnIn again, I run the same test and this time round it went thousand times better, on the 5th pass it was still stable at 69 - 72 Celsius, I'm happy considering the threshold is 90.

Start up WoT again and again, half way in reboots.

I'm stumped... can anyone shed some light for me?

I have down clocked (yes, down clocked) the CPU to 1.5GHz now and going to load WoT again, see how it goes.

Yea I figured that.. however, after reducing the CPU to run at only 1.5GHz it ran at 34 Celsius but still rebooted so I'm not entirely convinced that over heating is the main cause here, is it possible the PSU could not be supplying enough power? It's a 700Watt btw

I Know.

Doesn't matter now, yesterday the system rebooted about 4 times just after switching it on and now it doesn't boot at all. Fan spin up, but that's it.
