Hi, this is my first post. I'm going to be building a computer for the first time, and I've been researching on Tom's Hardware and got most of my questions answered already. :)

Okay, for the part of my build I need help with, I'm going to get an FX-6300 for my processor, a Micro-ATX motherboard that supports DDR3 1866(O.C.) RAM sticks, and 2×4GB of DDR3 1866 RAM sticks.

So my question is, will the DDR3 1866MHz RAM sticks work on the motherboard without any overclocking because the FX-6300 already supports up to 1866MHz of RAM?

Thanks. :)

What micro-ATX motherboard are you looking at? Most of the mATX boards that accept a 6300 have poor power delivery, and you want to make sure you have enough.

About the RAM, yes, that will be fine. You'll have to enable the XMP option in the BIOS most likely.
