Hey! As the title says, my GPU started to go full throttle yesterday for no reason, it does that whenever I turn on my PC. Before it just made noise when I was playing high spec games but now it happens even when I'm browsing the internet. The only thing I did yesterday (when the problem happened), was installing Minecraft and playing a few hours. I used to play DayZ Standalone at stable 50 fps without any problem, now I can't even play it at lowest settings.
PSU: Corsair VS550 550W
CPU: Intel Core I5-4670K 3.4Ghz CPU Fan: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X OC 3GB GDDR5
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 2133 PC3-17000 8GB 2x4GB

Things I've done:
-I've uninstalled and reinstalled graphic drivers.
-I've uninstalled and reinstalled Java.

Any else I can do?

Try resetting defaults in CCC. Uninstalling/Reinstalling is not the same as resetting defaults. Apparently CCC keeps some settings even when reinstalled.

I restored CCC defaults. DayZ still has considerable lower FPS. I've tried different games, which ran smoothly before, they have low fps too now..... The big difference is, whenever I closed a game before, the GPU slowed down and got to normal revolutions, now it wont matter what I do, it gets to 70ÂșC and even though I closed everything it is still clocking super high. The only thing I can say is, it started happening when I installed a cracked Minecraft version and played a few hours on it. Also, I'm using a not genuine version of Windows 7 (the desktop background is black).

I recently heard about potential mining viruses (if that's the right word?) that will hijack GPU usage when not in use... which would fit your situation. The cracked version of minecraft might be to blame...

Unfortunately I don't have any more information. I would recommend reformatting if it's not a big deal to you. Always good to clean up the system anyways. I do it once a year.

Where could I start for reformatting?

I'm pretty much open for any solution, I don't mind losing files.

I'm assuming you built this computer? You should have the windows 7 or 8 disc.

Backup any files you need, either onto another hard drive, or dropbox or something.

Put in the windows disc and reboot. Boot from the disc, I believe you will have to press F8 during the boot, and select the dvd drive to boot from. Just follow the installer wizard and look for an option about formatting drives, or repairing installations or something like that. I don't remember off the top of my head. It's fairly straightforward and then after the drive is reformatted then just install windows. Start by downloading and installing all the drivers you need.

Now I will say that reformatting might be considered over-reacting, but I feel like it's always worth it after the clean system is set up. You might be able to do some google searching for a solution, or maybe try a few different anti virus/malware programs, or you could just reformat which would almost guarantee that the problem is fixed.

It was a bitcoin miner virus, I already cleaned everything and it works just fine. Thank you!
