Does motherboard size matter in the case?

I'm going to be upgrading my motherboard, and I want to know, if the physical size of it, will have an impact on whether or not it's even gonna be compatible with the case. My current motherboard is approximately 23.5 - 24 cm (9.2 - 9.4 inches) in width (had to measure myself so it was really hard to tell). The one I was thinking of getting, is 24.5 cm (9.6 inches) in width, and I was wondering if those 5-10 mm are gonna matter anything. I would really hate to get something that doesn't even fit in my case, so I would appreciate some advice and help on this.

Thanks

edit: I am not asking if it's gonna fit in my case, I'm asking if the difference between the two motherboards in size is going to matter

As long as the Motherboard is listed as mATX, then it will be fine.

If you have a Mini Tower case, and I was assuming that from the size of the Motherboard, then you need an mATX replacement board. If the case is a Midtower, then use an ATX ( if it isn't a prebuilt as those things come premlded for an mATX motherboard.
