Hi. I had to bring my rig back and forth to the computer store 3 times in the last 2 days because of a different issue. Now my damn MSI 780 ti is making a bad coil whine in every game I play :(

I don't know why this coil whine started :(  and I hate it. I spent a lot of money on this PC and it was very quiet. Now it has this annoying coil whine. I don't know what to do. Is there any chance it will go away on its own?

Also, it looks like the higher the FPS the louder the whine gets.

Doubt it.

The caps will whine louder the higher the Frame Rate gets. I have this problem with my EVGA GTX 760.

I use V-Sync on a few games as long as the input lag thats introduced is not ridiculous.

If it is, I use the Nvidia Control Panel to Force Driver Based V-Sync and also Enabled Triple Buffering to remove some of the lag.
And then some games I just have to deal with it.

Ive heard some people say Coil Whine Will go away with use, but thats NEVER been the case for me

Short of an RMA, I dont know what to tell you =/

I think it's not your graphics card, I have Corsair GS-700 PSU and it makes that sound, it's probably your PSU noise, try to run your system without graphics card. :)

My PSU is a dell PSU from my old Alienware Aurora. It never made that noise and I put my ear right to the video card so I know it's making the noise. The noise also increases and decreases during gaming which is another symptom of coil whine right?

If I RMA it will they fix it for me or send me a different one? Or will they not help me at all?

Could it have been brought on by all the carrying around these last 2 days? I knew I should have taken out :(

I would RMA it, I think they should change that video card, I also have MSI's Twin Frozr card but it doesn't make any noise, probably you have faulty graphics card.

It still works fine I think. Although it did freeze today and then the whine started. Now it isn't freezing but it is definitely whining. Prior to today, it was always whisper quiet :(

I'm doing RMA now =/
