I have a Dell Precision M6700 with the Samsung SSD PM830 mSATA 256GB ATA Device as the primary (C) drive. Can I simply replace that drive and install the SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-MTE1T0BW 1TB mSATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) in its place?

Does anyone have experience or knowledge of this process and if there is anything else I need to know, change, configure, etc.? Will the new drive fit or will I need to make any modifications?

I have Acronis to copy the drives (Acronis say's the new drive has to be installed before copying it order for it to be recognized as a boot drive) I also know I have to adjust the partitions somehow through Acronis software.

Any help you can provide before I buy this drive (which is non-returnable) is greatly appreciated! :)

Solution
As they're both mSATA, replacing your SSD PM830 mSATA 256GB with SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-MTE1T0BW 1TB mSATA is not a problem. Your new drive would fit with no physical modifications.

Thank you both for your replies. I do have the connector, but I am using Acronis to copy as it is more reliable than Samsung's migration software. I have also read many posts that the Samsung software is very problematic. Thanks again for your responses.

Yes, it worked. 256 was the max available at the time Dell specs were written. That is probably why they made that statement then.
