I have a IBM Lenovo T61 think pad running XP Office and I was fine when I booted it up today them I turned it off and I get this error on the XP splash screen I've tried safe mode, last know working configuration, etc etc I use this laptop for school I don't need my documents but it does not offer a reset option and I've tried the windows diagnostics from the BIOS but I get a BSOD as well, I have pictures but I'm on mobile and can't add them. What windows diagnostic utility or process from that are you using when you get a BSOD, and what error message is that? Have you tried booting it up with a boot CD, such as Hirens.BootCD.15.2? And possibly running a chkdsk /r /f? Or taking the hard drive out and hooking it up as a slave to another computer, and doing that also.

I don't have another comp to use it on and it's a BSOD error STOP : 0x0000007b on the boot screen it starts to boot then stops mid bar and restarts
Can't get the comp on to download anything and I do not have any disks
And on my load screen it says press f8 for boot options I choose the windows check disc system tool

Did you install any new drivers for your video card before shut down by the way? Can you get into BIOS, try disabling AHCI mode. Then try starting windows. If that doesn't work, enable it back.

Did you check to see if your laptop is under warranty? Google your laptop name and model and check manufacturer's website. Sometimes they will have you enter a serial key to see if it's still under warranty. And see what the options are for you there. They also have recovery discs that you can buy for your model. But sounds like it could be a hard drive malfunction, just maybe, or just data corruption on a bad logical sector .

If it's not under warranty then I recommend this to get your data:

Well, if you have a relative or friend, and that has a computer with a SATA port, you could take it out and put it in as slave. Run a Live cd of Ubuntu and try to retrieve your data and put it on USB stick, External Hard drive, etc. That's if you need your data. That would be the first step.

The next step is to run hard drive utilities on your disc from boot DOS disc.

I think your hard drive is seagate, if so you can run this diagnostic tool on it.

Again, if you don't have another computer to get these utilities. I'm sure you can get one from a friend/relative/etc by searching the web and burning a disc. There are other utilities that check for bad sectors on disc boot up. Such as HDD Regenerator, Spinrite. Again, if there is something wrong with the hard drive, and you are using the operating system on it. It will bluescreen. Especially if data that is stored on that sector is Operating System files and the hard drive is still trying to access it. That could be one of the reasons. You can fix bad logical sectors with the right utilities. Do you hear any strange noises from the hard drive you don't normally hear?
