I am just looking into my first pc build, and I am currently viewing other peoples builds of 600-800$ gaming PC's. i noticed that a lot of people pick the Intel over the amd, but I don't understand why. I know this is going to sound dumb, but isn't more ghz: amd's 3.5 over Intel's 3.0, better. Also to go along with that ins't the amd 6 core processor better than the quad core of Intel. I just need someone to explain in basic computer terms the difference and why Intel is chosen more. Also just as a side question, I am looking to play Company of heroes 2 on full settings, and possibly battlefield 4 on full settings. Would any certain cpu be more beneficial to me?

amd:
less expensive
more cores and better at productivity suites

intel:
these ships are more efficient at a per core basis so you get more performance from a 3.0MHz intel than you do an AMD

I'd personally pick the Intel due to the fact that I love Intel CPUs.

If you want to overclock and that can add a significant performance then the i5 4xxxk would be good. the k editions can overclock

other than that their is nothing really all that much better without hitting the i7
