Hi guys, I'm currently having some trouble with the newest update for windows 8 and was hoping for some help.
So anyways this is what's going on.. Every time I try and update it, it freezes up on me at 0% yet says it's updating and won't let me quit. I've even let it sit for about 2 hours just to check and still nothing. ALSO, when I go to my task manager the tab labeled DISK is maxed out at 100% while everything else is running at fine levels. When I force quit the update My DISK drops back down to around 12-15%.
I might also add it is also doing this same thing when I try and update the latest driver for my Nvidia card. So it seems I'm stuck with an outdated system. I've tried cleaning up the disk, defraging it, just about everything I can think of....Please help.
Not sure if it's important but my system specs are..
AMDfx 4130 Quad Core Processor 3.80GHz
Nvidia GTX 650ti
1 TB Hard Drive with 612Gb's free
As far as the Disk being clogged, I've found that disabling Windows Defender is a great move. I don't have risky browsing behavior so it doesn't end up shafting me.
And this is Windows Update that freezes at 0%? So your computer just idles with the spinning wheel of circles on a solid-colored background?
Yea, i've went that path, disabling my security program but still no luck.... And no spinning wheel, just the normal mouse to where it almost seems like every things working fine. The first time I tried the update it made it to 4% and since then, nothing..
Right now I'm trying my GPU driver update and its on the screen saying :Installing driver but the bars not moving at all, but this time the Disk is only at 70%. It's still at 100% for the Windows 8 update though...
