Hello everyone.
So , I'm upgrading my PC...

I'm thinking of buying AMD FX6300.
CPU : http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Bulldozer/AMD-FX-Series%20FX-6300.html

Everything's seems fine here. But , I came across few pages which stated you need appropriate motherboard for it.
So , this is my motherboard
Motherboard : Gigabyte M68MT-S2P (3.1)
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3922#ov
(Look below the " overview "
"To enable AM3+ AMD FX-Series CPU support, please update your motherboard with the most current BIOS found in your motherboard’s download section." )

Here's my suspicion : My motherboard supports AM3+ socket ( Revised ver 3.1 , not 3.0)
But , when I checked the compatabilty thing..it doesn't show FX 6300.
Maybe , the Vishera CPU's were never updated in the list?
Can my mobo accept FX 6300? Since both are AM3+?
I don't want to buy a new mobo. But , is it compatible ?

Thanks for reading guys. Hope you have a good day :D

Specs : (At Present)
CPU : AMD Athlon X3 445
Ram : 4 GB (1333 Mhz)
GPU : Nvidia Gefore Gt 520
Motherboard : Gigabyte M68MT-S2P (3.1)
PSU : 450 W

How long have you had your power supply? It's possible that with enough capacitor aging that it might not even power that new processor you want.

If I were you I would update the BIOS first and if that goes well order the CPU. Its likely they simply neglected to update for Vishera since they all use the same socket.

Here's some insight from a similar question on the Tom's forums: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1802726/6300-bottleneck-m68mt.html

My PSU is 450W , it's been well over 3 years now. I'll update the BIOS.So... will the mobo work with the FX6300?
