What type of ram does the 690 take i have ddr2 but does not fit

You need "Fully Buffered" (FB-DIMM) DDR2 RAM modules for the Precision 690.
Standard DDR2 modules (Unbuffered) are notched differently, that's why they don't fit in an FB-DIMM slot.
